UNB Engineering Students: APPLICATION TO ATTEND THE RITUAL OF THE CALLING OF AN ENGINEER
CAMP IX

If you plan to complete your degree requirements by the end of the winter term, please complete the online application form by October 1st, 2024. The criterion for participation in the Obligation Ceremony is completion of a baccalaureate program of studies in Engineering. This is important. It means that if you are one course short of completion at the time of the ceremony, you are unfortunately not eligible to participate. Also note that because of the timing of the ceremony, you may not know if you passed all the courses, but you will have taken them, and are therefore eligible to participate in the Ceremony.

YOU CANNOT RECEIVE AN IRON RING WITHOUT TAKING THE OBLIGATION I.E. ATTENDING THE CEREMONY.

Once your application is received it will be checked with your department. Once they sign off on your academic eligibility, you will be notified by email. If you are determined to not yet be eligible, your payment will be returned to you.

FILL IN ALL INFORMATION - NO INITIALS PLEASE! PRINT your complete name in the order that you want it to appear on a certificate.  Your home address (if not from Fredericton) is also required for Camp records. If you leave home address blank you will be counted from Fredericton at the ceremony. Rings go on the pinky finger of the hand your write with. Ring size can be determined at a jeweler.

This form MUST be completed online and once submitted will be sent to the Dean of Engineering’s office. You will receive an email once application is submitted.

APPLICATION FOR practicing ENGINEERS(Senior Candidates)

If you graduated from an engineering program outside of Canada, or did not attend a ceremony at the time of your graduation from an accredited engineering program in Canada, you must attend an Obligation Ceremony as a ‘senior’ candidate. In order to be invited to a ceremony, a senior candidate must complete an application.

You will need to demonstrate that you have met the educational requirements for engineers in Canada by providing evidence of eligibility for licensure as a Professional Engineer (or registration as an Engineer in Training) with a provincial engineering licensing body. At minimum, a letter of recognition for academic qualification is required. Please visit your local jewelry store to determine the correct ring size for the ‘pinky’ finger of your working hand. You will receive an email once application is submitted.
